Amazing. Three Toyota dealers closer to you than a Ford dealership. Do you live in Japan?

The Camry ICE only car did have a problem with the transmission, but rubbish??? My Camry Hybrid had 67,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes taking it to the garage. That's dependable and I don't know of any issues with the Camry HYbrid since its introduction.

I think the Ford Hybrid will be a great car, BUT my concern is the largest dealership in my area has only sold 2. Just how familiar can they really be with something that they don't see. They don't have enough history yet to be bragging on them IMHO.

Nope, Puerto Rico. Dealers selling American cars have been striving here for years, while Japanese and Korean cars have done and are doing much better.

I considered Ford Fusion Hybrid when they first came out but before 2010 Prius showed up. But when Gen III showed up, I said that's it, I like the look of it, I didn't even test drive the Fusion and went straight to Toyota dealer. Actually I stopped at a Honda dealer to take a peek at Insight but one look at inside and just left. I am sorry but who would buy Insight over Prius?

Anyway, my biggest problem with a $30K Fusion hybrid is that it looks just like $19 base Fusion. Absolute no noticeable difference other than that green leaf badge and wheels and other minor details I am missing. If I am speding several grands of premium over non-hybrid model, I want it to scream "hybrids". It's not just hybrid vs non-hybrids. If I am buying top of the line, XLE, Limited, GTR or what ever, I want it to look special and different than basic stripped down DX, DL, L or what ever the neighboor is driving.

At least 2010 Camry Hybrid looks noticeably different than ICE Camrys whether you like the new grill design or not.

There is no mistaking Prius with any other non-hybrid cars. I think this is one reason that no other hybrids even come close to the sales success of Prius.

No offense taken. Some of us do, however, see your presentation as supposedly being factual when it is actually your opinion.

Now, in MY opinion the Fusion doesn't even come close to the level of the new Prius - regarding quality or (especially) low fuel consumption.

One thing that turned me off about the Fusion before I chose a Prius was the FACT that neither Ford Motor Company nor several local Ford dealers I asked would expand on their highly touted claim that the Fusion could go as fast as 47 MPH in EV mode. My simple question was - For how far and under what conditions (terrain, wind, hills, etc.) could the Fusion travel as fast as 47 MPH in EV mode?

No response whatsoever, not even the courtesy of a noncommittal reply.

My biggest concert with the Fusion: I've had a few Fusion rental cars before ... and at 15k-20k miles of rental duty they were already rough around the edges. (Broken vents, rattles, things not working properly, etc.) Sure they were lower models, but what makes me thing the FFH would be any different after a few years? I've also had rental Gen II Priuses and at the same vintage/mileage and they were always considerably better off.... (no problems other than a bit dirty inside.)

I do like how the FFH looks and the gauges are damn cool -- and as everyone has said on here the price is competitive with the V... but I have a III w/NAV that cost the same as the base FFH (taking into account the tax credit.) For me too, the practicality and mileage of the Prius wins plus the smaller size is easier to park in my super tight parking spot. :)

Now, people are forgetting the Nissan Altima Hybrid. That thing can be had for like $20k!! Nissan is giving nearly a $4000 rebate on it right now. Mileage is a bit worse than the FFH but it's got just as much power and handles quite nicely.... It's a Toyota licensed system as well... To get any kind of hybrid system indicator (besides KW) you have to opt for NAV.

The world needs more Hybrids, though -- so please Ford, sell a zillion so we can be at traffic lights in silence with everyone's engine auto-stopped.

Prius can not be compared with Hybrid Fusion, you're comparing apples with oranges.
The HSD Camry compares with the Ford H-Fusion. And the Camry is crafted in the US.
The Prius should not be compared to anything else simply because it's unique. The only other car approaching it unique style and features is the Insight by Honda, and still this is not the same hybrid technology...

True, and the Insight is a compact and the Prius is a mid size.

Sales are in and the Prius wins hands down by about 9:1. Even the Camry Hybrid beat this Ford.

Btw, shouldn't this be in the OTHER CARS subforum?
