The stock radio in my Prius II has terrible reception. Has anyone noticed that too? Is the SAT antenna on top also used for FM reception? I am almost wondering if an attenna is attached at all.

    Thanks,
    Peter

Does the Prius II come with Sat Radio? The brochure says it comes standard with the Prius II. It says AM/FM/MP3 CD player with six speakers and satellite radio capability. Does it or doesn't it?

Capable means it needs the tuner and antenna. The III and up includes XM, the II only has a SAT-ready head unit and antenna, but needs a tuner to be functional.

My Prius II FM radio tuner also has terrible reception. I took it back to the dealer to check if antenna was connected (only complaint about the car so far- 2 months, 2500 miles). They apparently opened the dash to confirm it was it was correctly connected. They explained that I had the Panasonic model, one of 3 manufacturers, and basically explained that I could not expect more from the basic radio. They explained that the base radio in my 2001 Avalon was a much superior radio. Left me wishing I had paid the extra $1K for the Prius III, but it was hard to justify without HD radio included. Inexcusable to have such a poor radio on any new car today.. Maybe other Prius II owners with good reception may have a radio from another sub-manufacturer. -Hal
