Hey Guys,

Thank you for all your help, links, and email. Thank you Bruce. I did order the PT233-47100 from the internet ($194 including shipping). It came with detailed instructions (colored PDF downloaded from website) and users manual. Basically, it installs under the Sat Radio module which is under the drivers seat. The AUX port is replaced in the console with the combination USB/AUX input. It was easy to install (sorry Cavemen even you can do it).

The only quirk I have seen is that you have to disconnect the IPOD and reconnect it to get the USB to sense it but the IPOD does start up where it was left off. I am completely satisfied with this unit.

I of course had to rub my dealer's nose in it. I showed it playing in the car with all audio functions intact and the additional USB tab as well. Showed the tech what I was talking about and that the Cali techs were behind in their understanding.

Again, thank you all and thank you Prius Chat for this site! :D

Ipod section of my iPhone 3Gs connects to the Prius speaker system
using a 3-ft. Audio Cable (3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male).
The Aux connection is inside the center console at the bottom next to the
power connection. At radio shack this cost $7.99. Griffin 3011-AUXCBL can
be found even cheaper. Not sure if I can change playlists from the car controls.

That connection is for audio only - no iPod control using that jack.

I have found some PDFs for the various IPOD interfaces, including the combined USB/iPod one here on this site:

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/

Navigate from the home page to General (tab) -> Accessory Installation Manuals then click 'Search AIM'. Select 'Prius' from the vehicle drop-down, and in the 'accessory name' field type 'ipod', then click search.

I had an interface kit fitted and I think it was a PZ473-00266-00, the manual seems to fit with my experience. I have tried it with iPod Nano (worked), Touch (worked) and Mini (no good). The manual lists the following as compatible:

The USB & iPod integration kit unit corresponds to USB standard “USB 2.0 FS (12 MBPS)” and
therefore supports the following iPod models: iPod Nano (as from firmware Version 1.021.01 or
later), iPod Nano G2 (as from firmware Version 1.02 or later), iPod Generation 5 (as from firmware
Version 1.021.01 or later). Firmware version 1.00 or older are not compatible.

Here is the WP page on iPods, 'Generation 5' refers to the iPod Classic:

I have to admit I'm still confused on the ipod integration. In my original posting I got an answer saying that the head unit doesn't work with the Toyota Prius iPod Interface Integration Kit. But today I got a message from the parts guy at my Toyota dealer who looked up the stats on my car 2/2010 Prius III and said, "Ok so looking at the equipment sheet from your vehicle it looks like you shoud be ok with the Toyota I-POD install kit."

Should I just assume it will work? I'm asking since I can picked up a used one for $100. I don't care about the satellite radio and my trial subscription ends on 12/28. Has anyone gotten it to work? Also are they easy to install. I've never done a radio install but I have ripped apart the dash in my 4 runner to replace some light bulbs.

From reading SlowTurd experience with the pa20-toy I know I won't be happy with the six playlist limit. Are there any other options?

Found my own answer in the "Does the Prius III take the IPod integration kit?" thread. This is a great place, it's just a matter of searching for and finding the info in all the various threads.
