BTW, how much a difference is there in comfort/ride compared to OEM 15" wheels/tures?

I am very curious as to how those will look on our cars. Was very seriously considering those initially, but decided to go with a less expensive Enkei wheel. These are mine.

 

Finally took the plunge and ordered a set of Enkei GTC01 with 215/45Rx17 Conti ExtremeContact DWS XL tires from Tire Rack. :rockon:

Hi all,
First post...Just ordered a Prius 4..Love the car just don't like the economy car look of the 15 inch wheels ...Asked the dealer..If I can swap out the 15 inch wheels/195 tires and pay the difference to get the better looking 17 inch wheels/215 tires(Much better look + the better road grip the 17's give that I am hearing about on the internet) with the car or have them install it, when the car comes in....The manager of the place asked me to sign some legal waiver mumbo jumbo, for him to even take the next step of seeing if he can..He stated that Toyota or the dealership won't guarantee the cars handling in case of accident, since I switched the standard 15' inch wheels to 17'...I told him he doesn't make any sense cause all 2010 Prius's have the same engineering and if a person spends 30k+ for a car they shouldn't have to get cheap looking wheels because Toyota decided only the V should have the nice wheels... I want the swap to be done before I take my car out from the dealership, so that I don't use the 15's..Any feedback would be greatly appreciated !

 

Those wheels are cool. I had a simular style on a previous sports car and had more compliments than I could count.

I bought a special brush to assist with hand cleaning. Enjoy!

 

Toyota won't even guarantee their own wheels/tires that they use on The Prius V model..In other words if you get 15 wheels/195 tires with your IV and want to swap it out with the 17 wheels/215 tires with the V..Even at their own Dealer mechanics..They won't honor their warranty ..Because the 17 wheels/215 tires are NOT part of the option package..Reason is : ...Get this...The "Prius Marketing team" decided not to put the 17 wheels/215 tires as part of the IV package and they will only warrant items given to the IV..Basically not giving a hoot that all the Priuses are on the same suspension and no consideration is given whether adding the 17's may even be a safer and better ride...Unbelievable, company's rather cover their behind then make customers happy!

Wouldn't shock me that 2011 Priuses will have better wheels and tires as an option to any car that has a sunroof/solar panel.Hopefully "The Marketing Team" pays attention to all the rants !

 

hello, trying to get this answered lately. i have a prius V with 17's and want to put 15's on for winter. ordered 15's from a 2008 prius, anyone think i will have a problem mounting them? thanks for your help. oh, i haven't got them yet so i can't try it myself, just wondering if someone has any experience with this or has any input.

 

Finally got the set of Enkei Racing GTCO1 7.5"x17" wheels on Continental ExtremeContact DWS 215/45x17 tires mounted on the car last night. :rockon:

The ride and handling on the car with 17" wheels/tires is a big improvement over the OEM 15" set-up. Running the recommended 33PSI (front) and 32PSI (rear); ride is very comfortable.

Altogether, it was a worthwhile mod IMHO.

 

I asked the very same question in another thread yesterday.

Fire Engineer responded that it can be done with no problem.

Agreed, those look sick. Exactly what i want to do. Now it boils down to wether I go 17 or 18....

If you go 18", you need to go on low-profile tires and lower your car. A car running low profile tires with stock fender gap is going to be REALLY awkward IMHO.

Has anyone lowered their Prius? I know it sounds like a Noob question but I can't see the reason why someone would want to lower their Prius, which will totally ruin the ride comfort of the car??
