I've tried using the search feature to find this information out but cannot for the life of me find any posts...

So.... who knows what the latest nav version is? When does the next one come out? Anyone in Phoenix have it? We open freeways here so often that it seems that we'll never have a fully updated nav system.....

Perhaps one day they'll wise up and have it all delivered over a satellite or cellular network... complete with overhead photos, with data that updates continuosly and traffic conditions and weather conditions that are live. You think it'll ever happen?

While they're at it they could put the screen either in front of you or lower so that sunlight doesn't completely get in the way of the screen like it does now - and use a coating that allows you to wear polarized sunglasses while driving and not have the screen appear 'dark' depending on how your head is tilted!

Try this. (copied from another thread on this forum)

"The latest DVD version for the 2005 model is 04.2. To get your version number, hit the Menu button, then select "Map DVD" on the touch screen. "

The polarization problem can't be helped. That's how LCD works: pixels becomes light and dark by shifting polarization against a polarizer.

If you were to get updates and all that stuff from satellite or cell, you would have to pay a monthly fee, just as you do for XM/Sirius.
