DICE behavior seems erratic

I installed the DICE from the PriusChat store a couple of weeks ago. We initially noticed some behavior we thought was odd but have been giving it time before jumping to conclusions.
I have an iPhone with the recent 3.1 OS update, my wife has an iPod Classic and my daughter an iPod Nano. All less than 1 year old devices.

The Nano hasn't had much play time yet so we haven't noted any issues while using it.
With my iPhone occasionally the music just stops playing, showing ATTACHED but no track info, looking at the iPod it appears to be playing but there's no sound. Then eventually it'll return to normal if we don't detach and re-attach it first.
With my wife's Classic it'll suddenly stop playing the current song and skip to the next, or stop playing and go to ATTACHED like my iPhone. Then today I couldn't even get the CD Changer screen to come up. Disconnect and reconnect the iPod, nothing. Press the CD/AUX button - just get a message "No CD" on the MFD. Finally powered off the car, powered back up again and it worked correctly again. She has no issues playing music on her Bose dock or earphones, so I'm not ready to blame the iPod.

Is this the best I can expect or is there something wonky with my DICE unit?

From my experience, that's about the best you can expect. If it's the same DICE unit I installed a year back or so, it's behavior is completely erratic. Sometimes the CD changer screen comes up, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you can see your selections from the iPod on the screen, sometimes you can't. Recently, it has started playing every podcast twice for some reason. Sometimes when I get to a stoplight, I have to shut the car completely off and restart it to get the thing to work. It does the same thing with my wife's iPod, too. But it keeps the iPod charged and partially works most of the time, so I never bothered getting rid of it.

Ah thanks for that feedback. I may have to do some studying on other options.

The Fix: Take the protective cover OFF your Nano (bet you have one).. the DICE IPOD connector is kinda large, and if anything is "around" the Nano, the DICE connector doesn't seat and lock correctly. Ask Mr. Experience here.....

Thanks, on or off doesn't seem to matter. I've actually trimmed away all the plastic that would get in the way already.
Yesterday I had my iPhone shuffling the entire 'Rock' genre. Then I parked the car, did some shopping, came back and it started playing again. Didn't think anything of it at first until I noticed that it wasn't playing the Rock genre shuffle anymore, it had just decided to start playing every song in the iPhone, alphabetically, starting with the Hs. Bizarre.

I am very disappointed with my dice ipod connector. After about 3 months it started acting up, sometimes it does not work at all, and other times it freezes up.

I am also having the same "ATTACHED" problem with my DICE unit and IPOD mini (connected via satellite mode). It started acting up after only a couple days of use. I have to unplug the power to the DICE unit each time to get it working again (thank god I have it stored in the glove compartment for easy access), since simply disconnecting/reconnecting the IPOD did not work for me.
