Try the plastic piece on the bottom of the passenger seat facing the passenger door. I found the clip not attached in the front inside, also placed some cloth in between. Seems to be better. Also in the top center cup holder anything in there rattles throughout the car if you have a cup there hold it down see if that helps. I put felt down in many areas with an adhesive backing.

Mine's 4 months old, 4K miles - no rattles - no snap crackle or popping. I tend to be very particular with that stuff (It would drive me nuts). Really, I was expecting some creaks/rattles with all the plastic in the Prius. But as for mine, so far so really good.

    that's good to know.

i guess this thread is distorted in only people that have rattles are posting, and there are probably way more WITHOUT rattles (there's just no thread for that).

i was just shocked because this forum is so positive about the car, but this thread came out of nowhere.

AND, it's important to me because I haaaaaaate creaks and rattles.

Ours had no rattles during the summer months, but once the temperatures began to fall (and the plastic started to contract) we started getting them.

I personally wouldn't cancel your Prius based on a few posters commentaries on some rattles. I have had my V for almost 2 months now..nothing really yet. As I stated earlier only something that I caused or a passenger caused by leaving something in the console or the seat belt buckle rattling against the door. (Had the latter in my last car, but just have to move the buckle). And I am in a cold climate so it's not rattling to death so I wouldn't get too concerned.

Were talking a small disection of people here...But hope you go forward with the V, the V will make you smile I am sure. I LOVE MINE! Glad I didn't get a II, III, IV or Solar Roof..But that's a personal choice for all anyway.. :) (Well Solar sounded nice but to use it in 4-5 months out of 12 just didn't make great sense to me. ;)

I only have the center armrest rattle on mine ... and it seems to go away if I just rest my arm on it. :) Is there an actual fix for it?

Otherwise, solid as a rock over LA's third world roads. (Seriously, they SUCK!) No car stays rattle free here in LA ... even Buicks! LOL.

Someone else said, there is a good solution to it. Just turn up the music!

Hey guys I have a 2010 Prius and I am getting a slight creak type noise from the center armrest when it's completely closed. If I open it even slightly to expose the cupholder the noise goes away. I live in LA so the rough roads really add to this problem. I have removed everything from inside the armrest storage area so I know it's the stupid armrest itself. Do you guys know of any solution to this? This is the only noise that is driving me crazy. Thank you!

all 5 Subaru's, i had in the past, developed squeaks when the temperature got cold and the plastics shrunk.

I didn't have any rattles until I read this thread! :) Now I hear a slight one in the passenger side, perhaps door area. I'm going to have my husband drive me around so I can investigate it...thanks for the tips.

Just be thankfull you don't have a HUD on the American Prius - mines been creaking since day one - add that to all the rattles in the dashboard - plus the one in the passenger side boot area!

Definitely all temperature based, now it's getting colder the creaks are getting louder and more frequent. Maybe that's why it was launched in Summer LMAO!

Check the passenger seat area, someone mentioned something about releasing it from the locked position and readjusting. Also, check the Passenger Seat Belt as it tends to hit the door and frame area, so slide it down or up....;)

Yep ... a fix would be nice. I don't really get what is making the noise either as it's just sometimes and if I bang on it, you don't hear it.

Ditto here. 5K (appt for first service on Friday!) and I have lots of stuff in the various compartments and nothing rattling or squeaking. Yay!

I have the same thing. I put a piece of paper towel on each side covering where the little tray lands and where the latch arms fall, then closed and slid the cover to the closed position (if that makes sense). That fixed it.

For me the creak was quite loud, like something very loose.

I will play with it more when I get a chance to try to come up with a more elegant fix.

I think the problem is where the smooth part of the dash near the windshield meets the textured part. I'm going to check it out and report back. I know under the passenger side there is some kind of plastic door that has some play in it. It's not the main source, but I'm sure it's adding to the problem. I'm going to secure it better and see if that helps.

I have my 2010 pri for less then a month
had a 2007 pri for exactly 3 years, havent heard a single squeak or rattle with the 2007

i have an annoying rattle from the passenger seat area from day one.

The passenger seat does not make a sound.
been to the dealer to replace all speakers, and while the doors internal cover was removed, checked the right side doors. again, no thing.

while i closed the front passenger door while seating on the passenger seat, i heard the rattle noise, did not have a clue from where exactly.

last satureday, i had some time.
i started banging on the car's right side plastics and metals.
found the ratteling came from the bottom of the vertical pole, where the passenger seat belt is. i removed the plastics covers of both right door seels, and the botom plastic cover of the pole. Vualah!
the rattle comes from the retention mechanism of the passenger seatbelt. when i press on it with one hand, and tap on it with the other, the rattle sound is muffled.
i stuffed a spounge to muffle the sound. have no idea how to stop the noise.

My Gen III is about a week old and I also notice squeaking noise towards the left front A pillar/left front speaker area. When I push down on it the noise goes away. I have to say that I am really disappointed but I really love the car.

Thinking of putting 17" or 18" wheels but this could just make things worse. I guess I could always turn up the JBL sounds.

I also do listen to my JBL in a loud manner when traveling, which help masking the rattles and creaks but my working buddies and I often carpool in my Prius for lunch (we try to be as green as possible), during which I keep the JBL off for a nice conversation, and guess what? My colleagues are making fun of the noises all the time because nobody can miss them! The noises are driving me insane. How can a car with a price tag in the low end of luxury cars feel so much cheap inside? You know what the frustrating part is? My Prius was nice and quite until around 5K when the noises start to aggravate and they are getting worse. It's like Toyota set it up in a way in which noises would only show up later when it was already too late for regret!

Yes. The passenger side dash. I can't figure it out either. There must be something inside the dash that we can't see. Underneath is a plastic door that vibrates, but that wasn't it. For what the car costs we shouldn't have this problem.
