    I
I am from Canada but this is my 19th year in Japan.

Today I clocked about 350kms on my 2001 Prius going in and out of Tokyo with friends visiting from Canada. We went the scenic route and that involved driving over mountains, being stuck in Tokyo traffic, a trip through the Aqualine (a bridge/tunnel crossing Tokyo Bay) and crusing through rice field rural areas. The computer average was 21.3 kms/litre or 50.1 MPG (US).

I dropped in here and started thinking about fuel cost - at about $1/liter here or and average of $4.26 per US gallon (http://www.sciencedaily.com/upi/ind...PI-1-20050407-04122700-bc-japan-gasprices.xml), I saved, um, a lot of money and fuel.

Today in particular I noticed a huge increase in the number of Prii on the roads in Japan - can't go more than a few minutes now without seeing one. I noticed a huge increase in Tokyo Prius taxis. There are even first ('97~2001) and second generation (2001~2003) Prius taxis that have obviously been picked up used and recently put into Taxi service. There are also a lot of new third generation Prius taxis now in service - the numbers are growing by the day. Many traditional taxis here are also sporting 'mild hybrid' stickers so there must be a rush of after market products and conversions to reduce fuel consumption across taxi fleets.

One thing about Japan that still amazes me after all these years - sometimes you think things will never change - and sometimes you notice that suddenly, everything has changed overnight...

Prius Owner since June 5. Almost afraid to say that I went shopping Sunday June 5th and came home the same day with my Milenium Silver #1. Never got on a list... had to get a new car fast and wasn't super picky about color or package.

Previous car '97 Honda Civic LX totaled when hit from behind while stopped at traffic light. Yeah, I tend to drive my cars until they are dead.

Had always been an indifferent car owner until I got my Prius. Best toy I ever got!

Currently on my 2nd tank of gas and :( picked up a screw on my first week and wrecked one of my tire (totally dropped my avg. MPG to 45 on my first tank). 2nd tank averaging 49+ MPG.

Lets go for the Prius Party!

    Nov 2004
[font=Comic Sans MS:8d6c77c2d3]Ok I will admit it! I am in love with Prius. Did not take long. The dealer would not let me test drive it. Asked for MSRP for a late 04 Model in Early 05. Walked away with Silver Prius fully loaded. No option left behind. Not regretting one bit. Has been getting 52 MPG consistently between tankfuls. 90% highway driving!

From MA been here almost 25 yrs. Would love to get together with other owners!

    April 05
Another Prius! This time Salsa RED for my dear wife. Again the same deal. Find a dealer on internet, go buy the car for MSRP. This one similarly loaded too.

So now were are one of the very few who have 2Ps.

I now want to start Prius Party! Neither the Republicans nor the Dems represent my passion for supporting our troops by not giving them a reason to go there in the first place!

Cheers! Happy to have found you all.

My "dream car" happened to be on the lot for sale on a day we were there window shopping! Purchased June 2, 2005.

Drove a 1994 Nissan Sentra for 8 years. Great car - hard to beat the gas mileage, so that's why my next car HAD to be a Prius! Nice to get a bigger car with better mileage. My first brand new car as well.

About a half hour from Philadelphia.

Tideland Pearl, Package #4, as of 6/20/05

I LOVE my Prius...3 days in and I'm LOVING it. Seems like this area is kind of quiet with Prii. Anyone else out there?

Worked with Faulkner Toyota, right outside of Philly. They have a constant stock, sell at MSRP, and are GREAT people to work with (Patty Kleber).

    Enjoying driving again!.....

Went shopping one January day for a Prius to replace the wife's 01 Subaru with a leaky head gasket. Drove an 05 Prius home the next day. After a few weeks I too caught the bug, called up the dealer and ordered a Silver 05 for myself. So we are another 2 Prius family! :D

Will pick up my '05 Tideland #1 Prius in about 10 days out of state (Marquette, MI). I'm on a couple of lists here, but I got tired of waiting, and my 1997 Isuzu Rodeo is getting really tired. It got about 18 mpg, but now has 199,000 miles on it, and I've grown weary of the gas guzzler.

I've been lurking on this board for close to a year, and hope to put the voluminous and insightful info here to good use.

Haven't ordered my Prius yet. We're saving up to pay off my husband's Camry. I hope my 1990 Camry with 165,000 miles can hold out until then!
