(Note: I fixed bad translated links, they were too long and got cut off. You'll have to translate them yourself.)

Was cruising the Toyota Japan website. Cool Stuff.

The main Prius page is http://toyota.jp/prius/

The Toyota Japan Prius page has numerous Toyota OEM custom options.

    http://toyota.jp/customize/prius/index.html

The google Japanese to English (Beta) translator works pretty well. Just paste the url into it. Translates most of the pages as you surf them.

An interesting one is the AC power outlet. Was looking forward to AC power when I was looking at the Matrix. Wondering if it could be used in reverse.

One accessory I hope I never need, The Electronic Toll Collection System.

    http://toyota.jp/dop/etc/lineup/silver-voi...oice/index.html

The accessibility aids are also interesting. The handle and cane holder would be of great benefit to my mother-in-law. She doesn't use a cane, but needs something to grab.

Damn! This is cool! Suicide Seat Rotary Sliding Seat. That's even better that the handle thing. Actually, its cool for anyone.

Okay, 3D urban mapping in Nav system is just WAY too cool for words.

    http://toyota.jp/prius/navi-audio/navi/index.html

Does US version of nav auto zoom map based on speed? Traffic congestion evasion is nice too.

    I want this stuff!

This may be old news to you guys, but I had a blast looking at those pages.

From what I remember from my trip to Japan 3 years ago, most of their generic navigation systems are still many years ahead of the ones in the US. Displays such as ones looking like you're driving in a 3D Gran Turismo and so on.

The Prius one would only be "matching" what's already on their market.

I could use the wheelchair and turning seat option. The turning seat I would need on the passenger side though, for my lady friend.

I wonder though how they get a wheelchair to fit in the cargo area. My lady friend's sticks out about 2 inches, requiring me to either lower the 40% seat, or remove the main wheels on the wheelchair.
Currently I am using a blanket to protect the bumper for when I store and remove the wheelchair. Already scratched the bumper a bit.

I noticed another option (I read somewhere it cost around $2000 in Japan) was the automatic parking system. Just highlight the parking space you want to back into, by viewing it in the information panel (there's a rear-bumper mounted camera included), press a button, and the car backs into the space! No more bad parallel parking problems!

Thanks for mentioning that. I like the front fender thingy, but it's way beyond my price range. I saw someone who had mounted a car cell phone antenna to the front license plate holder which was just visible over the hood. Now THAT I can afford. :)

    Hey Dan

I use a cheap 2000 series (forgot the mfg) chair for the car and if you take off the footrests it just fits.

I called the Mobility dept. at toyota and pointed out that Japan has options for the seat, They only wanted to send me to an aftermarket outfit that won't touch an airbag seat!
The car is made in the same place but we are not allowed what was installed for the non U.S. market? I went a lot of nowhere with them.

I imagine the cost to buy/import and finding the knowledge to install is all prohibitive.

    Any one else out there?
