Date Ordered: 5/23/2005
Dealer Ordered From: Russ Toyota, Beaverton, Oregon
Timeframe given for delivery: 2 - 3 Months
Color: Black with Ivory Interior
Option Package: #4
Your # on Dealer's Waiting List: Huh?

Responded to a cold call from the dealer soliciting trades. I've received excellent treatment from their service department so I was predisposed to buy from them. Went in for a test drive, WOW! Third gen is a big change from second. I wish the color selection was more to my liking, I still love bmp, but it does look good in black.

Oh do I miss the old days when you ordered one on line and finalized it with the dealer. You were special and Toyota sent you emails and gifts. My world time clock is on its third battery.

I had to go thru the F&I man (no I don't want your overpriced wares) who flat out lied regarding what I was signing. "Your deposit is refundable - nowhere on the contract does is state otherwise" Yeah, sure, except for the 24 point bold red type. We got that modified as they could play games at delivery with the trade.. I'm not looking forward to him at delivery.

Then after that I get a call telling me they lost the deposit check and could I come in and write another one. They were nice, and willing to pay the stop payment fee, and things do happen so it's nothing to get upset about. There was just one problem one problem, the check had already cleared my bank. I went in to the store (more to see the look on her face when I showed her it had cleared that for anything else) and she was appropriately embarrassed. I asked for some verification that the order had been placed and got some mumbo-jumbo about allocations and this and that.

I'm not upset with the dealer, just a little concerned that they may be a bit loose and unorganized. Does anybody know if there is a way to track and/or verify anything? I don't mind the wait, last time it was 4 1/2 months, but I'd like to know that I'm waiting for something.

I talked to Russ, but felt pressured. They wanted MSRP and kept pushing non-BC models. Thomason (damn their eyes) wanted MSRP+$1500. I went up to Vancouver Toyota, was treated decently, got the car for MSRP-$150. You can call around, maybe there's a Black Panther waiting for you.

If you go to the Toyota.com web site and "build your own Prius" you can email the dealsers asking for a quote.[/font:971e6751a1]

Black Panther. I like that. And much better milage than a black jag. Since I've put money down I'll wait and see how Russ does. It's not as if I'm suffering driving my '02.

I'm just thinking that if you found your Black Beauty in Gresham or Vancouver or Royal Moore in Hillsboro, Russ would have to swap with them or give you a refund of your deposit. Maybe they are working hard for you, or maybe hardly working. [/font:333cc236e5]

Ordered mine 4/26 by phone and on the lot by 6/24=8wks @ MSRP w/#4pkg. Deposit was refundable. I know! I had to cancel last September's order because it came in @ 4mo instead of promised 8mo and I was refinancing house at time. At least Bob Bridge Toyota erred on the side of conservative. So I was willing to go back to them- Renton, WA (south Seattle). I could have had the car delivered to a local dealer in Portland even though I sealed the deal in Washington, but I had a trade-in. I don't like the sounds of those screw-ups in Beaverton.

Arrived at the dealer a little after two drove off the lot at 4:30. No problems what so ever. No price surprises, paid sticker (which ended up being slightly less than what we agreed to going in) and got fair value for my trade.

The F&I lady just couldn't belive that I could beat her price (list) on a service contract. Her final words on the subject were, "If you can get it at that price, I advise you to do so"

I went in with a check from CapitalOne at 5.79% 66 mos, she said give me a chance to beat it and came back with 4.7% from TFS. One percent is one percent - I financed with Toyota.

This car is great! I think I'll post a comparison Classic vs 3rd Gen tomorrow night.

The only thing more intoxicating than that new car smell is that new Prius smell.
