      Jeanne,
Our home is ~2600 sq ft. Our PV system provides about 80% of our yearly electricity. During the Spring and Summer, production exceeds our usage even with A/C. The resulting credit is exhausted by December. Our panels are setup as 2 arrays, one facing East and one West. Because of this, Winter production isn't very good. Short of replacing our HVAC systems, there is not much more we can do to reduce our energy usage.

      Hey Jeffrey,

Thanks for the clarification about MFD. There should be a sticky post with acronyms somewhere here.

So you have a 9.72 kW PV system? Wow! What's your house's square footage? We have 2.4 kW and are adding another 2 this spring because of the Enginer conversion on our 07 Prius. 2.4 gives us a nearly net zero house, and we're not luddites. We have a big entertainment system, an iMac, 2 Macbooks, an iPad, an iPod Touch, a cell phone and an iPhone, among other things. Maybe Minnesota has better sun than New Jersey?

Anyway, soon our car will also be powered by the sun.

      :-) Jeanne
