      Hi Floyd,

I started a discussion "Technical Info" in the Faulty BMS Club group. It has references to relevant technical info to other websites. Please add any that I do not have already included. Thanks.

Hi Floyd, I couldn't wait for the weekend and fitted it after work yesterday. All in and working well though I am being gentle with the batteries it seems very effective as long as I let it warm up properly. Only problem I have is a bit of noise through the stereo when switched on, I am looking into a solution now.

Sounds like a good idea Massman. I’d like to avoid drilling holes as much as possible too. Using a couple of wide Velcro strips it would be easy to put in and take out again. Just one problem: on the FT817 the speaker is on top and I assume it would muffle the sound substantially. So probably we would need an external speaker.

I have a busy schedule this weekend. Maybe the weekend after that I will have a go at it. If you’ve tried it please let me know your experience with it, would appreciate that very much.

      Bye, Floyd

I was just looking at the area under the CD storage tray...seems very flat and even. Might make a good piece of VELCRO on the top of the FT817 a good fit under there. No holes to drill...no mount to slide in and out of. Just a nice, easy, pull and you could have the FT817 available for other uses. I may do that this weekend. Use it on 144/440 most of the time, but have a six meter antenna at the read in the back of the PRIUS.
