and I am copying it to this group.

If you have a 2001 2002 or 2003 Prius and you got the letter, Ma Toyota knows who you are. If no letter consider checking in with them, with the VIN. Then you'll recive this sort of thing directly. I believe the correct URL to reggister your VIN, name and address is:

The text below seems unclear as to whether they will do much more than clean out the air induction system for free.

2001 through 2003 Model Year Prius
Warranty Enhancement Notification for Specific Malfunction Indicator Light
    "ON" Diagnostic Codes

    Dear Toyota Owner:
At Toyota, we are dedicated to providing vehicles of outstanding quality and
value. As part of our continuing efforts to meet your product expectations,
Toyota would like to advise you of an enhancement to portions of your
vehicle's existing Toyota New vehicle Limited Warranty as specified in this
    letter.

    Toyota cares about our customers
Toyota has received reports that certain 2001 though 2003 model year Prius
vehicles may exhibit a Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine light)
illumination with diagnostic codes P3190 & P3101 with information code 204
or diagnostic codes P3191 & P3101 with information code 205. We at Toyota
care about your overall experience with your vehicle. To assure you that we
stand behind our product, we are offering an enhancement of the warranty
coverage on your vehicle for this specific condition.

This warranty enhancement is offered or a period of 10 years or 120,000
miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever comes first, for
illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine light) with
    the following codes:
-Diagnostic codes P3190 & P3101 with information code 204 or
    -Diagnostic codes P3191 & P3101 with information code 205

Should you experience this condition any Toyota dealer will repair your
vehicle at no charge to you under this warranty enhancement. Please note
that in the majority of cases, the repair will only require the cleaning of
the Throttle Body, which is covered under this Warranty Enhancement.

This offer is limited to your specific vehicle whose Vehicle Identification
Number (VIN) is printed above and is subject to the same conditions set
forth in your Owner's Warranty Information booklet, with the exception of
this warranty coverage enhancement. Damage incurred from abuse, a crash,
vandalism and/or other impact is not covered by the New Vehicle Limited
Warranty or this warranty enhancement. Please note that this coverage is
for warranty work performed at an authorized Toyota dealer only.

    What should you do?
If you have not experienced this condition, please insert this letter into
your Owner's Warranty Information booklet for future reference.

In the event that this condition has occurred on your vehicle, you may
notice the illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine
light) with diagnostic codes P3190 & P3101 with information code 204 or
diagnostic codes P3191 & P3101 with information code 205. In addition, your
vehicle's engine may exhibit abnormally low power or may not start even if
your 12 volt and Hybrid batteries are fully charged. If this should occur,
contact any Toyota dealer and make arrangements for diagnosis and, if
applicable, repair. Please present this notice to the Toyota dealer when
you bring the vehicle in for your appointment.

If you would like to update your vehicle ownership or contact information,
please go to www.toyota.com/ownersupdate You will need your full 17-digit
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to input the new information.

What if you have previously paid for the repair of your vehicle for this
specific condition as it applies to your 2001 through 2003 model year Prius
    vehicle?
If you have previously paid to repair your vehicle (VIN noted above) for a
Malfunction Indicator Light (check engine light) illumination with
diagnostic codes P3190 & P3101 with information code 204 or diagnostic codes
P3191 & P3101 with information code 205, during the applicable period,
please mail a copy of your repair order which includes the reason for the
    repair/replacement, proof-of-payment, and proof-of-ownership to the
    following adress for reimbursement consideration:
    Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
    Toyota Customer Experience, WC 10
19001 South Western Avenue, Torrance, CA 90509

Include your name, address and telephone number(s) in your request. Please
allow 4-6 weeks to process your request.

We have sent this notice in the interest of your continued satisfaction with
    our products.

    Sincerely,
    TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC.

I was driving home this afternoon and was wondering about my odometer mileage: 121,462

Strangely, I'm not terribly worried about this but we don't need to go there.

Bob I know you can keep your butterfly clean...some NHW11s are in shall we say less sophisticated hands though.

Still seems like a good idea to link your VIN to your mailing address so Toyota can send you stuff. Many posters here have aquired the classic Prius second hand.

I have a 01 Prius I received the letter just the other day, and the check engine light has been on for more than a year now, and it is for the codes mentioned in the letter, but I have 129,000 miles on my Prius, so does that mean I am out of luck?

bondman, go talk to the shop. Did you make them aware of the warning light at any time during the past year?

No, I have never taken it to the dealer. I took it to my local mechanic when the light came on, and he replaced the O2 sensor, and not long after it came right back on with the same codes. I checked different forums at the time and people said that it was not anything major so I just left it.

    Levi,
Recently my daughter was on a road trip in MN in my 2002 Prius when she experienced multiple warning lights. The local dealership diagnosed a P3190 and P3191, cleaned the throttle body, and replaced the air filter, to a tune of $460 (towing included).
I found your chat entry, phoned Toyota, and referenced my issue and your letter. After researching the issue and your letter, they deemed your letter "bogus" and claimed there was no Warranty Enhancement Notification for the code, referencing a dirty throttle body, or air cleaner. She mentioned that there would be an identifying "number" near the top of your letter if it were authentic, and reiterated that there would be no recourse as far as she can tell, but I am welcome to copy everything and write letters and send them all in for reconsideration if I would like.
I was wondering if you still had the original letter (with letter ID number), or could identify another reference that I might use to pursue this issue with Toyota for possible reimbursement.
Thanks for your time on this mission (Should you wish to accept it)

We own an 03, already had this work done (clean MAF/TB) last year, paid 225+90tow. Got this letter and sent it in with all requested info., and they did not answer. Then soon after that I got a letter saying that Toyota no longer cover this service. So at that point I gave up..

My car just showed P3190 & P3101. The dealership cleared the check engine light but I haven't driven it since. Is it ok to drive the car? I am hearing and reading different opinions about what I should do. Does anyone have any further information on this? I have a 2001 Prius with just under 120k miles.

Had this warranty enhancement work done on my 01 on 12-09-09 after check engine light and rough running ICE. I didn't get the hard copy back from the dealer, but my work statement reads: "Connect scan tool and check codes P3191/P3101. Follow T-SB-0180-09 and clean throttle body." Corrected the problem. Since then, I clean the throttle body annually.
