'04 headlights - one blue, one red

So last evening my wife came out to get in the car which I was sitting in and had just turned on the headlights. She said, "Do you know one of the headlights is blue and the other one red?" No, I did not. We pulled into friends' driveway where the headlights were shining on their white garage door and sure enough, the left side had a blue tinge and the the right side red. Blue is of course from the HID's, but the red?? I think that right one is also not as bright. Has anyone else experienced this? I suppose it is a sign of it going out soon, right? '04 with 193,000 miles and original headlights.
