We had, depending on where you live in the region, 4 to 10 inches of snow up here today (1/6).

    Usual goofy driving conditions.

Chained up my Toyota T-100 and did fine, including dicey compact snow and usnschooled urban drivers. Lotta whoopie driving all over town.

So why, you may ask, didn't I take my high-tech ULEV/TRAC/VSC out today?

Not because I don't have chains for it. Not because I don't know how to put them on.

    Two reasons:

    1. Anything over 4-6" of snow = Prius Hybrid sled. (cool low clearance height not suited for blowing through snowdrifts - it ain't no LandCruiser).

    2. I'm just not so sure ther's suffiente clearance to avoid abrasion of the the wheels wells or the painted edge of the well with even the most expert installation of chains.

So the Prius is still in the garage with the electri space heater radiating on low to keep stuff from freezing until this weather blows over.

Comments, actual experience out there about putting cable chains on the '04 Prius?
