It's now up to 30,500.....which is about MSRP - (has leather, tint, option A, mud flaps, wood dash)

 Looks like the Dealer has "enhanced" his profit by adding expensive high profit "goodies" - leather, fake wood panelling, mud guards, etc. Posting this as MSRP is, in my opinion a misnomer. Cruising the Prius forums will reveal that most of these "add ons" can be purchased at substantially better prices than the Dealer charges.

Gotta watch 'em all the time...!

MSRP is MSRP... the prices I am looking at are on Toyota's site thru their "build your own" option.

While I agree with you that these are pretty much high-margin options, getting it cheaper is pretty much true about anything. And as far as the leather and the wood dash stuff goes, actually if you check the prices are pretty good considering they are installed prices, and covered by the same warranty as the car itself.

Those are not factory options. These overpriced high margin extras are added by the independent distributor who controls the Toyota market in the Southeast region. These options are incompatible with the character of the car and are not offered by Toyota Motor Corporation, USA, who is the distributor for rest of the country.

"incompatible with the character of the car" ?????

What is it with people who always have something BAD to say about everything?

To those who can't ever say anything good, I dedicate this:

How mature of you. You are unable to articulate a logical argument, so you resort to using profane gestures.

I'm not the one guilty of the "ethnic cleansing" statements... and there isn't any way to argue logically with those who can't say anything good.

    How disappointing, dbarry....

What you are being told about the costly "add ons" is quite true. They are distributer/dealer methods of enhancing their profit and aren't "official" Toyota manufacturer options thus aren't true MSRP items. Toyota is the "Manufacturer" not the Houston-based distributer or the Spring TX dealer.

For one, I would have a very difficult time offering any help to dbarry due to his tacky response. Looks like he thinks he got a really good deal at MSRP plus about $3,000.

He's just a bit touchy because we've all mocked his dubious fake wood trim.
