i found i could overcome my jealousy of the new 06 MFD by changing the entire background color on my 05

we loosely pondered the idea, for the sake of pondering, but the connectors are all different :angry: so much for that idea.

 

I've been begging the '06 owners for pictures for a month now!

They definitely are a different breed that us early adoptors!

 

the screen is nicer, you've seen one shot... but they get stuck with the black background. i think they can change the color highlights around the buttons, but not the whole background color.

and me? i say, "screw you guys, i'm changing the background color on mine. then i'm going home." :lol:

 

Hmm. I have an '06 and I don't have those screens. Is this a higher package thing?

 

I thought it was the non-nav ones got the 2k4-5 mfd and the nav ones got the new digital mfd.

I have an '06 without Nav. What pictures do you want?

 

I think older screens are on the 06 minus nav packages.

I originally purchased an 05 because I was concerned about being too late for the Calif HOV stickers. I saw the list of differences between the 05 and 06 when I bought the 05, but did not expect such a major improvement in the display.

With the HOV stickers on the 05, I was able to get top dollar, close to what I put into the 05, and got the 06.

While the energy display is improved, I think the real significant difference is in the map displays. The street letters are crisp, easy to read; the logos, such as the interstate symbols are sharp - not to rub it in but I think the difference is more striking than the difference between regular TV and HDTV (and I'm a HDTV fan).

 

All 06's have the new 2X resolution display.


Edit: All 06's, Package 1 and above seem to have the new 2X res display.

 

I checked out an 06 while I was having my 15K checkup. It did not have the nav pkg but it did have the new screen.

 

How do you know that? Several people have reported having lower res screens on at least the early basic 06 packages.

 

I have package #2 and it has the two color screen options. I tend to like the orange. More contrast. What I don't like is not able to upgrade to the bluetooth integrated.
