What do you think about the plans to have a 2008 model Prius that gets in the vacinity of 100 mpg? That's what I'm reading. I'm thinking that I should plan on keeping my 2006 for a little over a year, until the 2008 comes out, then sell this one and get the new one.

    oh boy, another thread heh.

Do take note it's under the Japanese test cycle. The current one gets 83mpg, while the new one is expected to get 94 mpg.

Look around, there are some detailed posts on the supposed 2008 (MY2009) Prius FE numbers. Expect today's EPA test methods to yield around 62 mpg combined versus 55 for the current model, or approximately a 12% improvement overall.

The 100 mpg references you're seeing are using the Japan FE tests.

edit: Tideland beat me. (Darn you, Tideland!)
