Anyone on track for a 1000 mile tank?

My fuel gauge just dropped to 1/2 w/550 miles on trip meter and hsi showing 120 mpg

I think iRun has already had a ~1400 mile tank, if I recall.

I'm at half tank with 100mpg. I definitely drive this car more than my past car (giving our gas guzzling minivan a much needed break).

I'm just shy of 800 miles with 3 bars left on the tank: 108MPG so far, and that is with my 63 mile round trip commute and not getting a full charge at work. I've set up a meeting next month with the property managers and Coulomb Tech to rectify that.

    You gotta love these cars!!

Currently at ~980 with 2 notches left on the gas gauge. Car range says I have about 80miles till empty.

Wow... 1400 miles a tank is quite impressive.

That's really above and beyond any expectations. I'm sure that will decrease any payback time.

Maybe we should have a 1-A division for those of us who don't charge at work, and a 2-A division for those who can recharge at work.

Thanks to all the folks for posting tips and tricks!

And -B divisions for those whose commutes are at highway speeds.

I don't expect I'll ever see 1000 miles on a tank. With the work recharge, though, I think 75mpg overall might be an achievable goal...

agreed, with my 90mi commute (admittedly only once or twice per week) i'm only averaging about 70mpg with maybe 30% in-city EV driving.

Does the Car keep track of your EV miles vs HV like this? FYI...I do have the scangauge II for my Hylander Hybrid.

    Thanks,

    Edward

There's a screen on the MID/MFD thats called "EV Driving Ratio" that provides the EV/HV ratio, how much electricity was used (for EV), how much gas was used (for HV) and how much gas was saved. The numbers are rounded or truncated. But its at least good for a general idea.

The screen is resettable, but there are 2 (just like your trip odometer). So in my case, I use one for my "tank ratio" and I have one that has so far been my lifetime ratio.

Technically, for PiP's, can't you get a 100,000 mile tank if you only drive 10 miles back and forth from work/shopping? Is there a standard for figuring out what your "charging" costs are and mixing it into the calculation to determine true MPG (using cost of energy as the basis)?

I don't know if the PiP does this, but I understand the Volt will occasionally (weeks? months?) run the ICE just to keep things from gunking up.

As CharlesH pointed out, yes, the engine will run after a prolonged period of inactivity (I think in the manual it says after 120 miles of pure EV?). It would run until warmed-up (or if you shut it off, I suppose).

There's a spreadsheet some of us are using to track MPG. Since its kind of a pain to track kWh from the wall, we've just been using the EV Ratio display's kWh consumed number to make some calculations.

Here's my first tank. I gassed up last Friday. These miles are all in the normal lane.
    EV 676 miles
    HV 455miles

    Total 1132.4 miles
    8.608 gallons
    CONS 135MPG
    158 kwh
Fuel Saved by Charge: 13.2 gallons

This is the first week I have in the carpool lane. It's awesome but i won't get the same results going at this speed. Can't wait to see the results.

Yeah according to the manual, every 124 miles it'll turn on but I force mine on every once in a while because I dread leaving gas that long in my car. I'm currently doing about 70/30 electric/gas with my short commutes and short trips to 2 local small cities. Currently reads 170 mpg for the month so far. Fuel gage still show 526 miles to go. It is an amazing car.

I usually fill up when I hit 1/2 tank. But this time I ended up driving until I only had two bars left (1,012 miles on this tank/148MPG). As it turns out, it only took 7.4 gallons at the pump, so I actually had quite a bit of range left. Currently at 51% EV lifetime. My commute includes FWY driving. I'm normally able to get a full charge overnight and another one before returning home each day.
