I'm trying to remove that 12V Aux Battery but there is a little tube that attaches from the side of the battery into the body (see pic). Anybody know what it is and how to detach it?

Its just a vent to let gasses from the battery escape outside the car just pull to remove.

Just make sure you replace the plastic tube, it's does vent those smelly gasses, as well as hydrogen, which is generated as the battey is charged!

Normally the vent does nothing. It's there in case of a fault that causes an overcharge. Normal charging does not vent anything, if it did, you'd be losing a lot of water!

A fault could be DC/DC overvolt, or a shorted cell which would mean the remaining ones see too much voltage. In that case it would most definitely vent!
