I can get a good deal on these wheels but I don't see many people with 16 inch wheels. Is it bad to use 16" wheels or is it just that 17" look cooler?

If 16 inch wheels were standard on the Five, you'd see more people with aftermarket 16" rims. If you're going to spend the money, you might as well get 17" or the 16" will look small compared to a stock Five.

Wda been nice if the II - IV's all had 16 bare alloys, but maybe that would have blown their quest for 50 mpg avg.

I'd like to see 16's and 55 tires on 3rd gen, so get those and take pics :)

I'm running 16s on mine. I think it's a good compromise between handling and fuel economy. Running Motegi Traklites, at about 12 lbs/rim, with Conti 205/55 16s... I think my current set-up is even lighter than the stock 15s with tires. Since the width of the tire is only 10mm less than the stock 17s, there's not much of a handling difference, and it doesn't have the harsher ride from the 17s.
