Hi! We just had the 12v batteries replaced on 2 of our 3 2010 Prius today at the dealership. My husband picked up our Blizzard Pearl one earlier today and it still had all of the radio presets. This evening he picked up our Silver one and it had lost all of the radio presets. Is that odd? Does that mean they didn't replace the battery of the white one? Makes me nervous. They are closed now to ask them why! Thanks for all help!

Check the label on the battery, it should have a date on it.

Ok, he is not home with it yet. So there is a way to keep the radio presets if you change the 12v? Just strange that one kept it and one did not! :)

they should hook up a 12v source to the jump point under the hood, when changing the battery. this will keep the presets. what years are they?

the other thing i was thinking, and the reason i asked what years they were, maybe the gen 3 has a way of retaining preset memory, and gen 2 doesn't?

They are both 2010. My husband acted like it won't be easy to see the date to check! He said something like "it is hard to get to the battery which is why I paid the dealer to do it"! LOL! Guess we can call and ask tomorrow. We are also bringing in our 2010 blue Pruis soon to have them change its 12v. We own 3 (all 2010) Prius.

I'm hoping it was just different mechanics and one knew a way to keep the presets!?!

The white is a 2010 Prius IV no navi (kept the presets)
The silver is a 2010 Prius III w/navi (lost presets)

Any chance that whether presets are retained during the battery swap depends on the length of time between disconnecting the older one and connecting its successor?

I'll be doing this myself and with some 75 preset locations, I'd like to keep them.

    Where are these jump points?

Did both swaps by myself on a 11 and 12. Took my time and did it right. The battery is easy to get to BTW. A good battery is better than a radio station any day of the week.

the positive is inside the fusebox. take the cover off and you'll see a red plastic cover. it flips open, and there's a jump post with metal on one side. for the negative, any bare metal in the engine compartment will do.

If you have a jump pack with an accessory outlet, there are cables you can get, run from that outlet to the OBD port, to maintain power. The cable will typically have LED indicators too, so you can verify the connection is ok, at both ends, before disconnecting the battery.
