I can't get a straight answer from my dealership whether the Gen2 Prius should get a 2-wheel or 4-wheel alignment. I get different answers from different people. If I understand other people's posts, the only way to adjust alignment on the back two wheels to use shims or replace other parts; there's no real aligning to do. Does anyone know what the official Toyota recommendation is for real wheels? Do I need a 2 or 4 wheel alignment?

The official Toyota recommendation is that the rear wheels cannot be aligned and that new suspension parts must be installed if the rear wheel alignment is off spec.

What your car needs is to have the wheel alignment of all four wheels checked. If the rear wheels are off, then you can decide what (if anything) to do about it.
