Does anyone have experience replacing a battery in California> Mine is at Miller in Culver City and they want $540 to "get to the battery" and only then will they know if it needs replacing. Is it true that the battery is covered for 10 years under CARB rules?

    Thnaks for your help!

Susan, the Gen 1 battery is covered up to 100,000 miles. Luckily, mine was replaced for free at 95,000 miles at a Toyota dealership. They certainly didn't charge me to take a look either!

That's BS. The vast majority of battery pack failures can be diagnosed with the scan tool. Even a visual inspection wouldn't require that much labor. Find another shop.

    No.
