Our 2004 Prius, with about 185,000 miles has a brake actuator leak. We just replaced the Hybrid battery 5,000 miles ago and it has brand new tires. We only drive it about 6,000 miles a year. We've done significant work on this thing in the last 3 years. Carvana is saying it's trade in value is only $300 with the broken actuator. The car looks like hell- and we like it that way. We live in a bad hood for car and cat theft. The cat has already been stolen once and we now have a cage on it. We have to keep this car on the street. We like having a beater for this purpose-no one wants to steal this ugly thing. Should we replace the actuator or scrap the car? What would a prudent prius owner do?
    TIA!!!! MP

look for a mech who will do it reasonably. a lotta life left in your car

otoh, you may want to fix it and sell. you don't need a complex hybrid for 6,000 miles a year.
    find a gas beater
