Any guess as to the mileage hit the Prius will take with a roof rack with a bike on top?

    I don't think you can even put a 2003 roof rack on a 2004...

If you're in the market I've got two now, slightly used twin 4.5 year olds, and a newborn on the way....can make you a deal on the package. Of course I'll have to charge extra for Toyoguard and the wait list is about 6-9 months for the diaper free package.

Re: 2004 accessories in France (link) roof rack, cd holder,

What's wrong with ordering them directly from a dealer in France? I'm sure that there are folks either here on Priuschat or the Yahoo groups that might even help out .... maybe even a dealer! If the North American dealers don't want to supply what we want, we'll just have to find someone who will!

Now there's a marketable concept! Toyoguard for kids.

Noise reduction and stain resistance! That's an option worth some money.

Strapping a roof rack on a Prius with a drag coefficient of 0.26 will make the car as "draggy" as my pickup truck. Another issue is weight. The car is rated for 800 pounds. That means care when carrying a full load of passengers and a little baggage.

Adding a full Yakima (or whatever) up on the roof might be a really bad idea, especially that far above the center of gravity. Many of the rollover problems associated with SUVs can be laid to overloading (especially with underinflated tires). Most vehicles will hit their weight limit before their "cube" limit. Careful adding extra weight to your Prius or any other vehicle.
