    I have a 2004 Toyota Prius with 150k miles. Yes, 150k miles :|.

Anyhow it basically stopped working and the dealer said its probably the inverter that's throwing the code. Does anyone know if the 2004 inverter is replaceable by all Gen II inverters? The dealer says 2004-2005 is different than 2006+ but eBay sellers don't think so.

Can I run any 2004-2009 Prius inverter in my 2004?

    Help is VERY much appreciated.

    +rep too :)

Post the code. More often than not the problem is the 12v battery, not some expensive repair.

In answer to your question, I am pretty sure the inverter is the same for the G2 Prius manufactured from late 2003 through 2009.

I will try to post the code up. Battery was replaced tho. Along with the Inverter Pump (recall).

Can anyone else confirm whether the 2004 = 2004-2009?

    Thanks,

The inverter part numbering has changed over the six-year production run, so I would not assume that all inverters can be interchanged without causing problems. There might be compatibility issues with the hybrid vehicle ECU, for example.

If I was faced with this problem I would probably determine the latest part number per the Toyota parts catalog for the 2004 model year (which your dealer's parts dept can provide if the clerk feels like it), then shop for a salvage inverter with that part number.
