Our beloved 2005 Prius needs work. We now have an extra car that we recently received from an elderly family member who stopped driving, so we've decided not to put more work into our 2005.

We have dutifully and loyally followed the service schedule and have all the maintenance records. The car’s been very reliable.

    Here’s what it is

2005 Prius (Gen 2) with about 290,000 miles
    • Package #5 Includes: Smart Key System, Driver/Passenger Side & Curtain Airbags, Security Alarm, EC Mirror w/Homelink, JBL AM/FM/Casette/6 Disc Changer w/9 Speakers
    • Hybrid battery was reconditioned in June 2016 at 236k miles.
    • Tires purchased December 2017 at 264k miles, have 90k 6-year warranty

    Work to do
    • Required: Check engine light is on (P0302): needs new ignition coils & spark plugs. These are very easy to replace.
    • Optional: Rear axle beam bushing reportedly needs replacing, although we’ve not experienced any symptoms
    • Optional: The rear lift gate (hatch back) trim is cracked, preventing the hatch from being opened. If you want to use the hatch, you’ll have to replace the "lift gate trim".
    • Cosmetic: The clear coat is peeling from the hood and front driver side fender; the lower grill is damaged; there's a dent/scratch in the hood a few inches long; a variety of other scrapes and scratches as one would expect with an old, high-mileage car.
We live in NJ about 10 miles / 20 minutes West of Newark Airport.

    Best Offer.

Update: We donated this high-mileage car to charity. Unfortunately, our other 2005 Prius was just totaled. We are now the proud owners of a new 2019 Prius LE AWD.
