    2006 Advance Fleet Price Assurance

    Prius
Order Received by: October 31, 2005

    Price Assurance: 2 %

    Fleet Order Price Assurance

    (paraphrased)
Fleet orders for the 2006 model year received at TMS will be price assured at base price levels plus the percentages listed below. Increases resulting from any equipment/specification changes, safety equipment, required emissions, factory-installed options, port installed options, and freight charges are ineligible and excluded from price assurance calculations. Price assurance will be granted only on firm fleet orders for a particular model year models sold by dealers on a written bid or other contract acceptable to TMS for specifically ordered, produced and delivered vehicles.
Price assurance applies only when the ordered vehicle is delivered to the specifically named Fleet account for whom the order originally was placed and prior approval was granted. Vehicles taken back into dealership inventory, or subsequently sold as new or used vehicles to other than the original purchaser are ineligible.
Price assurance to the TMS/PD dealer will be accomplished by invoicing at the price assurance level or new model introduction prices, whichever is lower.
If introduction prices are higher, TMS/PD will credit 100% of the difference between price assurance levels and TMS/PD dealer introduction prices.

anyone know what this means to us consumers if anything at all?? I have tried decoding this one but to no avail...

IMO it means very little. It seems to me that they are just fixing the price for fleet purchases. Retail pricing is still up to the dealer.

But, MSRP is not set by the dealer - correct? When the cars arrive from port, they already have the window sticker in place.

Correct. MSRP... the operative words are "Suggested" and "Retail" is normally set by the manufacturer in conjunction with the national or area marketing organization. Fleet pricing is outside of this pricing as it is not retail and the information was proably from Toyota America to dealers so they could assure any potential fleet buyers that their pricing woul be constant for budgeting purposes.

At least we know that dealers that purchase fleet vehicles before 10/31/2005 will be guaranteed a vehicle before 3/1/2006.

Although it is completely wrong to say that all of us that have already ordered our 2006 as of 10/31/05 will get our order before 3/1/2005, the fleet guarantee give me a big hope that 2006s will be coming soon and in larger numbers than the 2005s.

indeed, thats what it seems like... While fleet pricing is different than retail, it is all % based, so if fleet prices wont be raised by more than 2%, so msrp shouldnt as well (and why should it raise?)

    Why should they raise? LOL

Take a look at what Toyota said and recanted the next day last April

"TOKYO, April 26 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp. said on Tuesday it would not raise its car prices to help U.S. rivals, breaking with its chairman’s comments a day earlier that voluntary price increases and other steps were in order to help restore health to the U.S. auto industry.

"Our basic stance is that prices are something for the market to determine," a spokesman at Japan’s top auto maker said.

"We are not thinking about changing (vehicle) prices in order to help the U.S. auto industry."

Japanese brands collectively grabbed a record 30 percent share of the U.S. auto market last year, and some executives have become more sensitive about how their companies’ success would play out at the political level."

Despite that news, the price rose in mid-2005. They'll also raise hte price of the 2006 because of the additions of a camera integrated into every unit. I also believe that tire pressure warning guages are now standard.

feel free to pay more, if you wish... I am just saying that based on upper statement, price will not change more than 2%.

Of course, this does NOT include addition of new equipment/packages, such as leather...

There is simply no need to worry about some crazy price increase...
