    when replacing the 12 volt battery will I lost the information that the computer saves for emission testing

    You will. However you just need to drive the car for ~100 miles or so, with a mix of both stop & go and highway driving. Alternatively you could use another 12V power source to maintain 12V bus voltage, while the battery is being replaced.
