I was reading through the Japanese press release dated 11/1/05 to find more info about the mpg for the 2006 model. I was reading the Japanese website through Altavista's translator, so I couldn't make sense of all of it. But I did see 30 to 35.5 kilometers per liter, which translates to 70 to 80 mpg. Is this correct for the 2006 model, and is this mpg for the Japanese model only or does it also apply to the US model?

No, mpg is figured differently in Japan than in the US. MPG will be unchanged--60/51/55

Since they have left hand steering, do they also use Imperial Gallons?

No, they use litres. 30-35 kilometres per litre is indeed 70-80 mpg (U.S.) but dmquiros must have been misinterpreting the article, because the Prius does not get 30-35 km/L.

The 2006 is identical in every important aspect to the 2005... it may be a couple of years before the next-generation Prius is revealed.

    I bet Evan's comment.

The 30-35.5 km/L data is the 10-15 mode test in Japan and it is same as 2004-2005 Japanese Prius.
