2006 Prius Toyota give the wrong oil 5w 30 PFE (premium fuel economy) vs FE - looked it up, PFE is only listed for 'Optimal Drive' Toyota's !

It has a lower ash I think (whatever that means)

Any idea what the difference is & should I get it out of the car?

When I changed it the PFE seemed lighter than the recommended FE (both are 5W 30)
They are both full synthetic I'm being told ?

Just wanna make sure I'm running the most suited..

A few have advised to run
0W -20! Im contemplating to try it next time!?

Climate here rarely goes over 25C in summer!

    Thanks in advance.

It's perfectly fine to run that oil in your Prius.

I did go for 0w-30 (with ACEA a5/b5). It’s kind of good things of 0w-20 and 5w-30 combined. And not really any more expensive than 0w-20.

I think that best oil for Prius gen 2 would be 0w-30 with ACEA a5/b5. It will give you good fuel economy and reduced wear even for long oil change intervals. I think this mostly applies to Europeans as Americans might not have as much ACEA info on their oils.

Checking the oil level and changing the oil and filter regularly is more important than what oil (as long as it meets the manufacturers requirements) you use.
