[2007] Is my catalytic converter.. cut off? I can see it, I think? [Picture included]

    Try not to laugh at me, I'm a novice.

    My Pripri sounds as loud as a motorcycle, and the spot where the catalytic converter would be isn't empty, in fact, there's something hanging down.

    Here is a picture.

    Hard to tell from the picture and angle, but from the 'loud' description this is likely the situation.

    Can you take and post an image from the side or rear as well?

    Which part of CA, just so we have a heads up.

    I can't get any pictures from the sides because i'm in an apartment complex with people parked on both sides of me, but I took a couple from behind. I'm in the central CA region, i.e Modesto/Stockton.

    I think it' may be in the middle of being stolen. I had to save the photo and flip it. It looks like it's hanging low but i may be wrong. If the cats were stolen, the O2 sensor wires would be hanging down.

    Can you provide a side photo?

    Like @TMR-JWAP kindly mentioned above, it looks like someone has made the first cut separating the rear muffler from the forward catalytic assembly. The piece that is hanging has value, but not as much as the piece closer to the engine. Best to find a new place to park it until you can add some protection underneath the vehicle, which may or not actually prevent them from pursuing the end goal of $$$.

    In CA that assembly will cost around 2k+ to replace, and has a street value of close to 1k.

    Yep, looks like somebody got interrupted halfway through the theft.

    That one can still be fixed with a little bit of welding.

    Please be careful, as the thieves will be back to finish the job. And then again when you have it replaced for 2500.
