2007 Prius, 100k miles, 60 mile daily commute, probably out of warranty, recently replaced 12v battery.

Today while getting ready to drive home at night I started up the car and no dash lights came on. Car was still drivable, headlights came on, blinker lights worked. Little stressful not seeing speedometer or gas gauge while driving with my infant.

Center console dash with radio/a.c. controls were on but miles traveled and mpg numbers appeared to be stuck.

The rear camera and white reverse lights were also out.

I made it home and immediately jumped on the forum where I searched and learned more about the "dreaded dark dash."

This is the first time I've ever encountered this so I guess I'll start with the suggestion of unplugging the white harness to the 12v battery.

Other than that is there a fuse I should look into?

I'll try to read more tomorrow but I wanted to ask since you guys are usually so quick and knowledgeable.

    Thanks and Aloha!

More than likely it is your combination meter (CM) that has failed. You can read about what it will require to fix it in this thread: T-SB-0172-09 Combination Meter - Intermittent Display | Page 6 or you can order a refurbished unit from Matt @Texas Hybrid Batteries and swap it in, returning your faulty one for a core credit.

If you are not handy with the tools, you could still purchase a replacement unit and have an indie garage fit it for you.

Thanks. Link doesn't seem to work.

Went to load up my car for next week and the dash is on again. (Don't think it logged the miles I drove tho) I'm sure this will come up again as time goes by...

    Read through the whole thread

I guess replacing it is really my only option... other than soldering 3 capacitors on

    Thanks for the responses

12 days later... went off again for 30 miles then came back on.

Side note for others: To turn off

Hold push button start. Car will power down but screen will still be on.

Foot off brake, double tap push button start for OFF
