In the last week I have done a lot of maintenance on my 2007 Prius. Changed the oil and filter, the air filter, topped the fluids, and changed the spark plugs. I have just over 120,000 miles on it. Hopefully I will get another 100k out of it.

Left to do is change the 3 wiper blades and check tire pressure. I probably also should change out the cabin filter. I drained and filled the tranny fluid a few months ago.

The spark plugs were the only semi-difficult item. But thanks to this forum I was able to get it done. I do recommend the spark plug wrench from Advanced Auto that was suggested in the spark plug thread. It worked great.

Maybe it is just my imagination but it does seem to drive slightly better after changing the spark plugs.

    Glenn,

I buy two refills for the front wipers and then cut down the better of the old ones to refresh the rear wiper.

Did you inspect your brakes. Mine started making the annoying squeal at slow speeds at around 135,000 miles but I finally changed them at 145,000 because I was waiting for a nice warm day. (note the inside pad on both sides had the most wear in my case just enough pad to not be grinding)

Have you changed your Transaxle Oil and Inverter Coolant? Definately worth it if you want another 100K!

    Yes he did the trans.

Your way overdue for both coolants though. ICE & Inverter. And since the car will be up on jackstands make sure you clean the AC Evap coil too.

I did not check the brakes this time. They were checked a while back but they are due to be checked again soon.

I did a drain and fill on the transmission a few months ago. I did not change the inverter coolant. The fluid looks pretty good though.

I am trying to remember the recall a couple of years ago. Was that the inverter pump that was replaced? Whatever pump was replaced that fluid also got replaced then. I will have to look that up.

Yes I probably need to change those coolants. Not sure how easy they are to get them refilled and purged.

I had a recall a couple of years ago. Was it for the Inverter pump? If it was they changed that fluid then.

No they usually don't. I asked my dealer and they just clamp the hoses off on each end.
I coolant is very easy. Many posts here how to do it and lots of You Tubes.

The engine coolant is a bear as you have to force on the CHS pump to circulate the water through the canister to purge air out. If not almost garanteed to get airlock. I had a lift vac on mine without doing the CHS relay and still got an airlock so its tough. Many dealers have trouble with it too.

I will probably do the Inverter coolant next week. The ICE coolant might get to be done by a dealer, will check their price for that.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

    Cool.

Be aware if you are doing the Inverter Coolant yourself and its very easy many posts on here about it while the car is jacked up is a very good time to service the AC Evap coil under the dash. It keep the coil & housing free of mold and the car will smell 100% better. Its a very important maintenance thing as it also keeps the condensate rubber drip hose clear. If that hose gets clogged from mold and gunk it then drips on the passenger side carpet and may do that for months and you'll never know till one day you notice the carpet wet and when you pull the carpet up omg!
    New carpet kit time! $$$$$$$$

The kit consists of 2 cans of pressurized fluid. $25. One is a microbial soapy foam the other is just perfume. Kit comes with special attachment that plugs into the foamy can and attaches to the drip hose end underneath the car.

Shoot the can of foam up the tube and it cleans the coil and comes back out as liquid. Really easy and impossible to mess up. I never use the other can which is god awful old lady perfume that will really stink the car up imho.

Hard part is jacking the car up and getting under it. If your going there take advantage of that.
