The 2007 Camry looks more upscale to me than the current model. I like the projector headlights too. It's a nice looking car.

For the 2007 Camry Hybrid, I hope Toyota chose a 4-cylinder engine for the ICE instead of a V6 because it should result in lower emissions and higher MPG. I've read several sources that reported a 4-cylinder would be used, and other sources reported a 6-cylinder would be used. Perhaps Toyota will offer a choice of hybrid drivetrains in the 2007 Camry Hybrid.

It's a beautiful car - wish I knew the MPG stats for the TCH (Toyota Camry Hybrid).

It's very likely there will be a choice of hybrid drivetrains.

Wonder if this thing (at least the v6 version) will be the precursor to the Lexus GS450h?

Looks a lot like a BMW 5-series from the back.

You are wrong because the GS450h is RWD. Camry is FWD.

From what I have heard, the GS450h has a normal 6-speed auto, not the plantary tranny Toyota uses on their current hybrids.

    So my guess is....

camry v6 = hylander FWD system
camry i4 = Estima minivan (FWD, not the AWD-i) system

Yep, looks like a baby Avalon.

Wonder if they're going to keep that trend in the next Corolla.

sounds about right dipper. Actually, the Alphard uses the 2.4 litre HSD system too.

I hope so. It looks good so far. Can't say that for all other companies that are trying to establish a new brand design.

Very nice-looking car, I'm liking the design. Wonder what color that is? It's hard to tell in the light, but it looks like a dark gray/silver/pewter...magnetic gray maybe??

Yep, looks like the Magnetic Gray to me - same color coming to the Prius. Thanks for the pics, Tideland!

wait wait wait... how can the GS450h have a regular 6 speed auto and not the planetary gear?

I understand that the GS is going to be RWD, but that means that either they are redesigning the HSD completely, or they are using a more mild hybrid design...

    That colour is Magnetic Grey.

Yes, the GS450h will have a 6-speed auto, the first HSD car WITHOUT a PSD. Well, I'm assuming it's using HSD and not the mild hybrid system Toyota has on the Crown.

Edit: I just checked the 06 Toyota Colour chart and noticed something. I think the Camry hybrid will get two special colours - Turqoise MM and Blue Ribbon Metallic. These two are * which means they'll be launched in January 2007. The other colours are Magnetic Grey that would also be launched in Jan 07 (although toyota.com says May 2006).

All 3 colours are bolded which, according to the legend, is a special edition colour. Don't know if they'll be for Special Edition models or for hybrids only. This leads me to one more thing. Is that an HSD badge in the 2nd pic?

Hm. Well i bet it will not be a 'regular' 6-speed auto in any sense... it's something like a dual mode transmission from what i've read. very interesting.

Please note that the current Estima/Alphard Hybrid are THS-C system and it doesn't have the PSD.
However, Toyota announced the Estima Hybrid Concept at Tokyo Motor Show 2005.
    http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/autoshows/2005/tokyo/

The Estima Hybrid Concept is equiped with the THS-II(HSD).
It will have "Exhaust heat recovery system" to improve the fuel efficiency.

It looks extremely roomy. Steering wheel controls look like it is as button happy as the prius one, including bluetooth phone buttons!

Looks like there's a good chance the new Camry will have BT as at least an option.

Hey, the steering wheel is on the wrong side!

I like the pics, but I wonder if the seats have improved. I noticed in shopping for my Prius (on order) that the Camry's seats are not comfortable for me at all. Our 1996 Camry was great, but the new one ... I just couldn't see making my commute in that car.

The only car that was as comfortable for me as the Prius was the Matrix, and it was a close second.

Honestly, after seeing the Japanese photos, I swear the car that I posted right at the top is the Camry Hybrid in Magnetic Grey. I don't the "V6" badge is that big. Look closely at the 2nd pic!

I drove a Camry once when my Prius was in for service. I was unimpressed. Nice enough car, but nothing special. But I admit, it's hard to be impressed after you've driven a Prius.

I know, I've read your post lol.

we have an 02 Camry XLE as well and I still like the Camry. It has a lot of front legroom which the Prius lacks and it's more comfortable because of the suspension and the better tyres (running on Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus). The thing I don't like about the Camry now is the thin steering wheel.
