"The 2008 Mazda Tribute HEV: Mazda’s first entry into the hybrid market is a close cousin of the Ford Escape Hybrid. The 155 combined hp full hybrid can travel up to 25 miles per hour in electric-only mode and will go on sale mid-2007. The vehicle is expected to meet California’s Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV) standards."-Hybridcenter.org Newsletter UP THE MPG

Mazdas are infected with Ford parts and technology, so the 2008 hybrid Tribute will be crap.

ford and mazda have been in bed since the early 70's, ford ranger and mazda b1800, and the tribute and the escape are both built in the US in the same plant and the same line. Nothing new here.

After owning a Mazda(Ford) Tribute for six years, the new version will not be a success unless... The 2008 Mazda must be built in a Mazda plant for build quality, eliminate the horrible road noise, significantly improve the gas mileage, and improve the ride to Prius standards. I replaced it with a 2007 Prius Touring, Pkg.2. and do not regret it. How nice it is not to get 16mpg, be able to listen to the radio on the road, ride in comfort and not worry about the electronics. Plus, I have the same cargo space.
