I bought a 2008 Prius that was scanned and found code P0AA6-526 by Auto Nation,HV failure/short to ground.. the owner decided not to fix it, let the car sit for about 5 months and sold it too me (very cheaply).

The 12 volt battery (yellow top) was only 6 months old at the time the car broke down and only had 4 volts, I found the negative post was cracked and covered in that green corrosion (not sure why auto nation didn't see this)..

I replaced the 12 volt battery and hooked up my laptop with tech stream and found the following codes but NOT the original P0AA6.. (I have not cleared anything from the car) No warning lights on the dash and the car is running and driving, just took it around the neighborhood.

    C1241,C1300,C1378,B1443,B1200,B1207,B1271...
from the research I have done I see most of these are from low voltage..
everything on the HV side seems to be working, traction battery charging, ac working, inverter pump working, no excessive noise or vibration from CVT..

Could the P0AA6 be from the defective 12 volt battery?

just trying to get some input before taking the car for a LOOOOONG test drive..
    thanks
***UPDATE.. 3 miles and I got the P0AA6 and the other 7 codes again..ideas??

doesn't tech stream give you a troubleshooting tree? maybe you have to download the service manual, not sure.

No, just a fortune cookie one liner.

Once you have the codes you have to consult the service manual and follow the diagnostic tree for the code. You may find out that there should be sub-codes that get you into the appropriate branch of the tree too.

Doubt it. Do you know what a P0AA6 is? Seems to point to a ground isolation fault in the HV.

That error is a general "anything could be wrong" error with the HV isolation. So basically, it is a disconnect and measure everything until you find the problem.

True, but he has got the 526 sub-code, so consulting the diagnostic tree in the service manual will point him in the right direction.

No 526 is part of the general code. Nothing specific.

*a is the entire HV area of the Prius.
*b is code 526, notice how that is the entire HV area of the Prius.

That includes *c, air conditioning, *d, HV Battery, *e, Transaxle, and *f, the HV "Direct Current Area" which is basically all the post-battery pre-transaxle wiring.

Thanks for the diagram, I see from where you are coming.

However, there should be a sub-code if he digs into the freeze frame data, which should help isolate the fault to one of the HV sub-systems.

It is very common to only get a 526 with no extra information.

isn't it corrosion on the bus bars fairly frequently?
