2008 Prius Oil Useage

    we have a 2008 Prius with 105,000 miles. We have driven 2600 miles since our last oil change. Right now, the oil level on the dipstick is just under the bottom mark (i.e. a little oil is showing on the dipstick). Have others experienced this? Our 2006 Prius (which got totaled last year) had just under 200,000 miles and the oil level always stayed near the top mark -even at 5000 miles driven. Thank you for any thoughts you have.

    The distance between the two marks represents 1.5 litres, or 1.6 US quarts, just for your info. Yeah that's "getting up there" consumption.

    Check it more frequently (obviously) and keep a few quarts handy for top up.

    Are you using 5W30?

    Oil consumption is a well known problem for Gen 2 Prius. 1 quart per 1,000 miles is not unusual.
