    Is there SAFETY Feature Gas Pedal stuck, and BRAKE being applied at the same time for the 2009 Lexus ES350 (like 2008 Prius)?

    1-If Yes, for the 2009 Lexus ES350 (CHP driver crashed) why the Safety feature Did not work??

    2-Can it be duplicate on 2009 Lexus ES350?

    Floor mat may have trapped accelerator in CHP officer's crash, death - SignOnSanDiego.com

    SAN DIEGO – A preliminary investigation into the fiery crash that killed a California Highway Patrol officer and three family members indicates it may have been caused by an accelerator trapped by a floor mat, said Sheriff's Department officials.
    Witnesses saw flames coming from the front and rear tires of the speeding 2009 Lexus ES 350 before it crashed Aug. 28 in Santee, suggesting “long, constant heavy braking,†said Sgt. Scott Hill, the lead sheriff's investigator.

    Condition:
    1-an accelerator trapped by a floor mat

    2-long, constant heavy braking

    Why ????

    .....:confused::confused::confused:

    The Prius drivetrain is COMPLETELY different from that of a normal car like the Lexus ES350.

    The reason why the hybrid computer in the Prius will automatically command the gasoline engine to power down when both the gas pedal and brake pedal are stood on at the same time is to protect the Power Split Device hybrid transaxle from getting destroyed.

    If the hybrid computer is malfunctioning and allowing the gasoline engine to run up revs in an uncontrolled manner even as you stomp on the brake, the full brunt of the gasoline engine's power will be directed at the transaxle's central sun gear/MG1 electric motor, and it will cause that transaxle MG1 electric motor to electrically overload and burn out, and the car will come to a stop. There is no better way to stop a car than a destroyed transaxle.

    This transaxle self-destruction capability adds an extra measure of safety against a runaway gasoline engine in the Prius. I don't know if the ES350 has anything like that built into it.
