    HERE'S our exclusive picture of the next generation Toyota Prius, the first environmentally-friendly car to make mass sales – nearly 600,000 since its 1998 launch.

    The current Prius, launched in 2004, also proved green cars didn't have to be ugly.

    Now the new model looks even sleeker, with racy styling.

    Engineers are also working on improving economy, aiming to push it towards 80mpg from 65.7mpg.

    Until 2008 when this model – roomy enough for four adults – goes on sale, Toyota intend increasing production of the current Prius.
