According to my dealer they will be offering the bright dark blue also called Specta Blue that is offered in Japan and also on other Toyota cars for the 2008 Prius. Estimated to come out late Sept early October in my area. They will keep the Seaside Pearl also- so 2 blues now.

No. SuperWhite is better. SuperWhite is better.
Must keep telling myself that SuperWhite is better.

If you want a "preview" of Spectra Blue Mica, just look at the 00-05 Celica and 01-05 RAV4s. The blues on those vehicles are Spectra Blue Mica.

Forgive me for being skeptical about this latest "news", all information about the 2008s so far indicated that there would not be any color changes. I would also wonder about the likelihood of there being two blue models.

I think it looks like the Subaru World Rally Blue and the Mitsubishi Electric Blue, a bit too "boy racer" for me; I find the Seaside Blue to be a much more mature color and would choose it over this new blue.

    Ooooooo.

I am so tempted to get the new 2009 redesign now. I'll bet the dark blue will still be available on the 2009.

I'd have to switch out my BTplate and remove my newly installed EBH and put it on the new car.

    But I am so tempted.

My dream Prius....dark blue with a gray interior.

I could finally get the side signal mirrors I've been coveting and have them installed too!

    Oooooo. Ooooooo.

It might be worth giving up two years of HOV access.

I hear you now have a " PLUG IN Prius" B) thanks to Wayne
He installed ours at the Hybridfest, only used it once so far. has been in the high 90's and triple digits here.

Oh and to stay on the topic, the Blue is very nice but the RED ROCKS STILL

Will you let me know more about the plug-in or direct me to the prior topic here on the forum? That is pretty exciting!

I bought a gold. I think silver is prettier, though Red is the rocker! Sad to say, I told hubbie, when we were negotiating with dealer (2007), none of the colors was so pretty that I would pay more or wait for. That is pretty sad. First time ever for any car I ever bought. Why did Toyota pick such boring colors for the Prius.
(That light green metallic one is pretty nice, but I was told don't even hope). That said, that blue color if it happens is beautiful.

Maybe being able to conver to a plug-in & get more mpg would make me forget the gold color. :) But does that cost like 10k???

    THANKS!

Spectra Blue certainly seems to be real for 2008. I wonder if Toyota will make any other changes to improve sales besides the lower base price? Personally, I'd like a more adjustable front seat along with telescoping steering wheel. For whatever reason, I've been unable to find a comfortable seating position in a Prius, which is the primary reason why I haven't purchased one.

08 Spectra Blue is real. I have one on order. Dealer expects to have it September 5th.
It does come with gray interior. I can't wait.

Do want! It's too bad they'll probably be in high demand and marked up as a result.

There is a show on Showtime called 'Weeds'. The main Character has driven a dark blue Prius just like that for the past 2 seasons. Not sure if they had it painted or not.

The shade of blue of her car is Seaside Pearl, a lighter blue than Spectra.
