It is getting to be the time to reflect on the what the past year has brought and predict what the next year will bring.

2008: Who would have predicted Barack Hussein Obama would be the president-elect of the United States?

Who would have predicted oil would get to $147/barrel only to crash to less than $40/barrel?

Who would have thought the New York Giants would win the Super bowl?

Who would have thought the US economy would be leading the world down a path towards depression after a melt-down in the financial markets?

    2009:

I think it will be remember mostly as a year of despair. I think we will have unemployment at levels unthinkable only a few short months ago.(10+%) Lets see what all of you predict for 2009?

I suspect 2009 will be remembered as a year of transition, perhaps gut wrenching. Our lifestyle, which for the vast majority was completely unsustainable, will erode to more "normal" levels

If our currency collapses, we may experience hyperinflation. That will wipe out the savings of those who were prudent enough to plan for a downturn

I would hope saner minds prevail, and we don't descend into Internecine warfare. What is "normal" to 80% of the global population, may be considered horrible suffering here. In time, we will adapt, learn from our mistakes, and approach new challenges with renewed vigor*

    * if you believe that horses***

I will also be crowned Supreme Ruler of Earth

Maybe in 2009 the utterly outrageous income of top management will move a little closer to the normal white/blue collar worker and politicians are starting to represent the interest of their people.

*pop* Hey, who woke me up?

The Prime Rate will become so low that banks will (blatantly) charge you for depositing money there and actually pay you to take out loans.

The US will wise up to the predatory trade practices of the Chinese and Japanese and then we will find out the hard way that all those chinese factories were owned by the chinese military.

Considering the size and cash flow of Tata, that may not be too far from the truth

    :twitch:

The fact that nobody bothered telling me about this, is very revealing
