just purchased a 2009 Pruis for our daughter- went to dealership to test drive and it wouldn't go out of accessory mode- they thought it was related to the aftermarket remote start as this was the first it had presented with, they had trouble with not being able to unlock the doors to the remote start shut off when they had drove it to the office for us to look at they looked it over again, couldn't find a reason and unhooked the 12V battery to try resetting it both batteries had been replaced at trade in earlier in the week drove it for a test drive and it was great they delivered it to us on Friday and after they left it did it again, disconnected the battery and it was fine they said she had to hit the remote start fob remote fob is no longer in her possession today she was driving it and had a VSC and brake light (circle with ! in it) came on, she pulled over and shut her car off to check what was wrong- went to start it and it was again in accessory mode again disconnected the battery again and it was fine help- she frustrated and afraid to drive it for fear of being stranded!
Well where is the remote start remote. Apparently needs to be in her possession. Now you have a $3,000 brake job coming up this reason for scanning before purchase . This codes probably been up before they found a way to clear it and sell it boy oh boy. Hopefully you have some kind of warranty something on a 20 year old car or whatever it is now holy moly. This is a great first car when it's been sorted out. Preferably not on your dime
