2009 Toyota Prius Lost Power After Hitting Hole

welcome! actually, toyota doesn't recommend changing the tranny oil. so you're not late, but many here recommend it, so, it's probably a good idea to do it now.

Alright, I took a quick look at this car today and I'm pretty sure I figured it out. Anyone want to take a guess?

hints? judging from the original responses to this thread, i think we're pretty much stumped.

 

I want to guess but 'loss of power' is too nondescript. Is there a more informative thread ?

 

Car shut down, everything inside turned off, including speedometer.

When it came to a stop, he hit the power button and it came back on.

 

Nope, no ICE, no power steering, nothing.

 

Off, or just appears to be off ? I ask because OP said in this OP

if it was a gm, i'd guess the ignition switch.

 

OK, it sounds like Avi is saying the car powered down. I'll presume that any malfunction that leads the Prius to decide to completely power the down the car is not going away so easily, so this sounds more like a case of the car thinking it *has* actually been told to power down -- the equivalent of holding down the 'Power' button for ~ 3 seconds.

 

Aside from the car shutting down on purpose, any other reasons it would go dark?

 

A mechanic who is a tease. Great.

For now my only thought is the CM but I don't think the car powers down in that situation.
A dark screen could also be an inadvertent illumination change but again, the car would continue to run; and a reboot would not 'fix' the problem.

 

I guess there's no point in torturing you guys. What about a loss of power on the low voltage power system?

 

Or should I say, loss of voltage.

 

flux capacitor took a dump? or loose battery cable
