What will not open? Doors? hatch?
If your issue is the doors, you can use the key that is in the fob.

And why is this in the Prius v forum if you have a hatchback?

Yeah maybe rephrase the title and body of message to say "hatch" instead of "hatchback". Hatchback sort of infers a model, like sedan or coupe. And, "Report" your thread: ask the moderators to move it, should be in Prius 3rd gen maintenance and repair section.

If you're struggling with editing the title (ability to do that seems to come and go), mention that in the "report" too, ask the mod's to retitle?

Regarding your problem: nothing happening when you push the hatch release button? Or the shocks shot? Need more detail.

Perhaps the switch or actuator. Have you checked for a blown fuse?
If the fuses are OK, I think you should be able to use the mechanical release inside to open it.
You should be able to troubleshoot whether the issue is the switch by using a multimeter.

the fuse should be near your left foot, or under the hood in drivers corner. how long have you owned her? the switches are expensive, maybe ebay or salvage?

maybe somethings jammed in the latch.

There's probably not much to be gained by trying to fast-forward over a proper diagnosis. The rubber open/lock buttons on the back of the hatch are nothing but input signals to the body ECU. The latch itself is electrically operated, by an output signal from the body ECU. The body ECU won't trigger that output signal unless it considers the car fully unlocked (such as by two presses of the fob unlock button, or detection of the smart key near the hatch or passenger door, or the use of the unlock switch on a door armrest). There's a lot of stuff to check.

Does your model have the all-doors smartkey system? When the car is off and all doors are closed, can you hear the doors lock when you press the (smaller, round) lock button on the hatch?

When you know that you have electrically unlocked all doors (clearest way, using the unlock button on the driver door armrest), will the (larger, oval) unlock button on the hatch do anything? Does any sound get made at all?

Can you open the hatch from inside with the mechanical release (feel for it through the removable panel at the rear of the cargo tray)?

Answers to those questions will be a start. It might be something simple. If it isn't, and it looks like a bigger mystery, the repair manual and wiring diagram will probably be important for going further ... too many interacting pieces to just guess about.
