Took to the dealer this morning. I change the ICE air and cabin filters myself, so it was basically oil change and tire rotation, and checking the brakes. fluids, etc. I was very happy - no hard sell on unnecessary stuff. In and out in 45 min. My previous Honda Accord needed service every 7,500 miles and would run me $55. Considering the Prius now use syn oil, I think the cost to have normal maintenance done at the dealer is great.

It's been a while since I've dropped any of my vehicles off for a basic service. Is that how much they run for these days?

$67 is very low. Usually dealers charge about $65 for the 0w-20 oil change alone and another $40 for the tire rotation and inspections.

The Lexus dealers tend to charge about $200 for a minor service on the CT200h with 0w-20.

$67 is a lot. I get my tire rotations free from Firestone since I bought ONE tire from them a long time ago, haha. Then I get my oil changes from them for like $15 (incl inspections) cause they always have deals in the mail or on their website. I couldn't do it myself for that cheap! Plus I've been there so many times they remember me and my car, they take care of me right away and I'm always out in less than an hour. The key is to tell them you're waiting. Most people drop off their cars and then they'll take all day on it.

$15 w/ synthetic oil is criminally cheap.

    Macmaster05 doesn't have a Gen 3. Toyota doesn't dictate/specify synthetic for Gen 2s. The oil change intervals on Gen 2s is 6 months/5K miles.

Thanks for clarifying. The photo does indeed look like an older model, and I didn't realize synthetic was optional prior to Gen 3.

Oh right, sorry for the confusion. The $15 deals I find are for non-synthetic oil. I'd forgotten the Gen III requires synthetic, which is, well usually at least double the cost of a standard non-synthetic oil change ($50-70). So $67 is actually not bad at all for the oil change and rotation.

But the 30k mile change is no big deal, really. Like the OP did, you can buy the filters you need on Amazon for less than $20 combined and change them yourself in 3 minutes. Next, the inspections are basically the same as the minor service and come included with your oil/filter change.

But to have your tire rotation done at the dealership for $40 is ridiculous. Most tire places charge $15-20 for a rotation.

My dealership provides free synthetic oil change/tire replacement/car wash for life.

oil change- heard horror stories about toyota dealer oil changes. Will probably do it myself.

tire replacement- requires me to do ALL services with my dealership...probably a no go for me.

free car wash- unlimited car wash/vacuum anytime I want it. I love it! :)

I received a coupon from the dealer stating $169 for the 30k mile service, with 10% off. Saved about $75 buying the air filters and changing myself. The $67 was after the 10% off too. It was fast, easy, and I didn't have to worry about a Jiffy Lube or similar place knowing how to properly service my car.

Toyota never specifies a mileage to replace the Transmission fluid.

Increasingly, folks on PriusChat recommend 30,000 miles, then every 60,000 miles after that. I did mine at 60,000 but I perhaps I should have been sooner. (The worry is that metal particles will short out the Motor/Generators. Once you change once, there should be fewer and fewer metal particles)
