Yes, interesting. I thought I was being wise going with the fuel line instead of that clear braided tubing other people use. I guess when I have the chance I could try two things: First is to do everything I can to seal off the connections (plumbers tape, hose clamps). But that might not fix the problem.

Second is to just re-plumb the entire thing with a different hose type and be careful to create good sealed connections everywhere.

Good thing I live in the Canadian province of Alberta - land of true freedom. Where the right to roll coal is widely protected by even the most liberal of government bodies and emissions controls are unheard of.

Be sure to let us know what type of hose you end up with if you go that route!

I had no problems whatsoever until 150k miles but the next 50k stranded me twice with major issues and the oil consumption accelerated fast once started. So you may be in your honeymoon period. Keep the relationship fresh - which means you and the oil change bucket should meet frequently.

I used to suggest people sell by 150,000 miles; recently more and more engine out experiences are starting around 125,000 for early gen3s. The evidence suggests that once the piston rings lock up the cylinder wall wears unevenly and buildup and blowby becomes severe.

I used a fuel rated line, no problem.

Try making sure everything is sealed/clamped well first.

I highly recommend this product on all threads, works really well, and it's rated for oil, gas, fuel, and heat. They also sell the product in a smaller tube.

Canadians are not sarcastic. They are taciturn. Stern. Formidable. Direct. Humorless.

No, wait… the word I was looking for is Cold. Canadians are cold. Very, very cold.

You missed terse and succinct. I don't know about cold though: last summer our BC Interior towns were prone to spontaneous combustion. :(

Polluted air is a bad thing. The stink from my OCC is a bad thing that I should fix. However I am happy that I have the freedom to add an OCC as I please.

Yes, it’s silly that California will not let you install a sealed OCC, because it improves emissions performance. It’s a good thing.

But it’s super-difficult to write regulations that include the good and exclude the bad. OTOH, we get the CARB warranty, which kicks butt. 150,000 miles.

    I recommend you do:

    Transmission fluid, maybe sparks plugs.

If there is original coolant, you don't even need to worried about it. I have a 06 Camry never touch the coolant, 200,000 miles now and in Wisconsin. Always Mobil 0-20w Synthetic Oil and 10,000 miles change.

Hybrid and 12v batteries may need to replace soon.

I already did both the trans fluid and spark plugs. Did the engine coolant too to make the EGR job easier. Hybrid battery is in very good shape (according to Dr. Prius). Will need to replace 12v soon.
