Hmm...to add to my pre-existing paranoia that I admitted to in other threads, I find it suspicious that in a very detailed 45 page release containing just about every single fact or specification about the new Prius....nowhere is the specific recommended octane Fuel Grade mentioned. ....just adds to my paranoia.

Even though it is written as an outline, it is better and more clearly written than the Owner's Manual.
So there was someone translating the engineering stuff into mostly understandable English for the press, but not for the actual auto users.
Shows the modern corporate ranking of importance:
    1. Marketing materials
    2. Consumer use information

I doubt this is limited to Toyota documents, or even to the auto industry.

Thanks, Thai. Whether March 2009 or July 2010, I found it to be informative -- and I had missed the earlier reference to it here, too. Much appreciated.

Interesting, I'd missed it the first time too. Just a few curious anomalies:

    • pp 18 - "Each module is 9.6 volts DC (1.2 volts x 6 cells)" - must have been a red face on this one.
    • pp 18 - "High nickel prices are ensuring that used batteries get recycled"
I was lucky to see the New Car Features, a more detailed version of this document.

    Thanks,
    Bob Wilson

I was curious about the battery output too. I thought we were told that the battery output is now 34hp up from 28hp because of the new cooling system.

    Bob,

Is this a secret document or is it available somewhere? What kind of additional detail does it have? Thanks!
