2010 Prius what runs off elec now?

    Just picked up my wife's 2010 II Prius. I have read that the water pump, and power steering pump are now electric.
    Then at closing the financial guy at Toyota told me the air conditioner comperssor is electric also???
    So is this true than no more belts correct?

    mmhmm. I think the power steering has been electric since it was introduced in Dec 1997, the A/C compressor was electrified for the 2nd Generation launched in Sept 2003 and now the water pump is electric for the 3rd generation.

    Engine water pump. (12V)

    Hybrid inverter coolant pump (12V)

    Radiator cooling fans (12V)

    Power steering (there is no power steering pump, the assist servo is electrically powered) (12V)

    Power brakes (the ABS motors/pumps provide the assist) (12V). Normally the brake pedal pushes the master cylinder forward, but the pressurized fluid does not act on the brakes, it's pressure is only read by sensors. Then the ABS motor pressurizes the fluid to the calipers if friction braking is called for. There's also a stroke simulator valve, so the pedal moves and feels normal to the driver. In the event of a failure (or power off), all the solenoid valves are deenergized, and only then does the master cylinder fluid pressure (from the pedal) act directly on the calipers.

    Air conditioning compressor (high voltage power from the inverter box to an inverter that's integral with the AC compressor), variable speed independent of the ICE.

    Starter. There is no classic starter. MG1 and MG2 act in concert to spin up the ICE. Both motors are used, but MG1 does most of the work. When MG1 spins up the ICE, there's a counter torque through the gears that acts on the final drive. MG2 is used to balance this torque, though MG2 doesn't actually spin. It's not always perfect though, which is why you get a small residual torque to the wheels when the ICE starts.

    Transmission park lock (called the shift control actuator).

    Still Mechanical (so far):

    Engine oil pump.

    Valve actuation via chain-driven camshafts and oil-actuated timing control servo.
